Regular readers will know that I am a fan of quite a few of the products from Green People. I have to say I don't know of any company where I like every single one of the products, but skincare is a very personal issue and even something as simple as smell can put you off.

I was in the market for a new night cream when I saw Green People had just launched an addition to their Nordic Roots range, so I snapped it up quickly! Their Nordic Roots range is inspired by the Scandinavian love of purity, simplicity and functionality. All the products in this range contain powerful plant ingredients sustainably sourced from Scandinavia and are free from alcohol, parabens and SLS.

I usually like essential oils in my skincare but this range does not include any so should be suitable for even the most sensitive of skins.

There are currently another 4 items in the Nordic Roots range if you are keen to try them:

  • Nordic Roots Cranberry Micellar Foaming Face Wash - £20 for 150ml

  • Nordic Roots Hyaluronic Booster Serum - £30 for 28ml (see review of Nordic Roots Hyaluronic Booster Serum)

  • Nordic Roots Apple Complex Moisturiser - £28 for 50ml

  • Nordic Roots Marine Facial Oil - £30 for 28ml

I'm hoping that they launch a cream cleanser in this range as I prefer a cream cleanser to a foaming face wash, but they have a couple of good cream cleansers already in different ranges - read my review of their Age Defy Purify & Hydrate Cream Cleanser.

My skin had been a little upset when I bought this product (the trials and tribulations of testing skincare products) and I felt that it's natural microbiome (skin barrier) had been irritated. The Nordic Roots Truffle Night Cream contains Northern Truffle wild harvested from the Finnish Forests which is supposed soothe the skin and protect from irritation. More importantly for me at this time, it also contains ceramides which help repair cracks in the skin barrier. A quick scan of the ingredients also shows it contains hemp oil which I absolutely love for dry, tired or damaged skin. I have used hemp in many of my homemade skincare recipes as it's great for helping dry skin and fine lines and wrinkles without being greasy. It absorbs in to the skin fairly quickly and is great for soothing and restoring damaged skin. I've always found it to leave skin soft, hydrated and plumped up. It's also a good oil to use of your have eczema, acne or psoriasis.

Nordic Roots Truffle Night Cream - Review

Nordic Roots Truffle Night Cream is a very slightly off white cream and smells of absolutely nothing. You apply the product to freshly cleansed skin, taking care not to over apply. You don't need much at all as it spreads beautifully and sinks in very quickly, but still leaves the skin feeling supple. It has no greasy feel but the skin feels very moisturised and soft.

Apply in the evening before bed (don't forget - to freshly cleansed skin) and then hit the sack! I also dot a little Green People Rejuvenating Eye Cream under my eyes as well for good measure.

I'm impressed with this night cream. It did a really good job of helping repair my skin barrier in just a couple of days. The irritation went on the first night and after 2 - 3 nights use all the problem areas had resolved themselves and repaired.

My skin was definitely moisturised and supple. It also felt very soft and there was no pore clogging or heaviness the following morning, and no puffiness that you can sometimes get with heavy night creams (especially if you apply too much of them).

For the ultimate skin boost I also used Nordic Roots Truffle Night Cream with the Nordic Roots Hyaluronic Booster Serum and can confirm that this does boost skin hydration a little more. I'd be more than happy to use this night cream on its own as it performs very well, but I do tend to use an oil or serum underneath my moisturisers and the hyaluronic booster serum performs well and compliments the night cream, so I'll probably stick to using them both at the same time for now.

I have also been using this night cream with the Green People Liquid Gold Tanning Drops and they work extremely well, mixing in easily and giving me a subtle glow when I look in the mirror in the morning. I've tested with with and without the Nordic Roots Hyaluronic Booster Serum underneath and they work identically in both instances with no problems.

I think this will be one night cream that I'll be buying again. For mature, dry, tired skin or skin that is irritated or has been subject to products that have disturbed the skin mantle - this is the product for you!

Nordic Roots Truffle Night Cream has definitely made it into The Happy Sage list of Recommended Products.
