In this article I'm reviewing both of the Aurelia London natural deodorants, the Botanical Cream Deodorant and the Citrus Botanical Cream Deodorant.

Aurelia London are one of my favourite ethical natural skincare companies - read my reciews of some of their other products that I have tested:

They don't use any iffy ingredients in their skincare such as mineral oils or harsh sulphates and their ingredients are sustainably grown and resourced. Their products are also gentle on sensitive skin, and mine in super sensitive. Not only that, their products are scientifically proven to work, so don't let anyone tell you that natural skincare products aren't effective!

However, a deodorant is another beast completely. Part skincare product and part deodorant, it has to look after your skin whilst keeping you dry and sweet smelling under just about all circumstances.

Antiperspirant vs Deodorant

Antiperspirants are supposed to help you stop sweating to prevent the bacteria which lives on your skin from reacting with sweat. Deodorants allow the body to sweat naturally but help prevent bacteria on the skin so there is no interaction between the sweat and bacteria to cause odour.

Aluminium Free Deodorant

Personally I think sweating is a natural function and don't think that blocking glands in the body is a good idea. Many antiperspirants (and some natural deodorants) also contain some form of aluminium salts and there have been studies linking their use to breast cancer, although other studies have found no evidence at all. Whilst the jury is still out on whether aluminium is a problem, I prefer to avoid it and Aurelia cream deodorants are aluminium free.

Cream Deodorant

Aurelia's natural deodorant is a cream deodorant. This is a really neat formula that comes in cream form in a pot but turns to a fine powder when applied to the underarms and gently rubbed in.

Aurelia Cream Deodorant Ingredients

Aurelia cream deodorants contain finely powdered arrowroot which helps reduce bacteria and kaolin to help absorb any damp or wetness. Shea butter, vitamin E, glycerin, rosehip oil and jojoba oil gently moisturise and care for the skin. The essential oils used contain antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties.

Essential Oils in Aurelia Botanical Cream Deodorant

Aurelia's Botanical Cream Deodorant contains lavender, tea tree, peppermint, orange, bergamot and eucalyptus essential oils which creates a beautiful herby green fragrance with a slight background of bergamot.

Essential Oils in Aurelia Citrus Botanical Cream Deodorant

Aurelia's Citrus Botanical Cream Deodorant contains mandarin, grapefruit, rosemary, lavender and orange and has a light citrus fragrance.

Aurelia Cream Deodorant Review

These natural cream deodorants come in a brown glass jar with a black lid and are packaged in a beautiful cream and gold cardboard box. Each jar contains 50g, (1.7 fl oz).

I have used a full jar of each of these deodorants over the course of all four seasons and loved both the fragrances. The product itself is a soft cream and really easy to get out of the jar on your fingertips. The neck of the jar is wide (nearly 2") so it's easy to get into it.

Vegan Deodorant

Both of the Aurelia natural deodorants are vegan and are registered with the Vegan Society.

How do you use Aurelia Deodorant?

The product is very easy to use. Simply apply to clean underarm skin and rub gently under the arms and it turns to a fine powder. I did wonder how effective it was going to be but I was very impressed. Even in full summer heat exercising outside it worked like a dream, no massive wetness and no odour problems either.

If I had one tip it would be to keep this product in the bathroom and apply there as you will need to wash your fingertips afterwards, but you can just wipe any remainder on the fingers off somewhere else on the body with no problem!

One jar lasted me ages as you don't need a lot of the product and it is easy to over apply the product without thinking, but you really don't need to. I just made sure that the main underarm area was covered.

I also found that using Aurelia's cream deodorants kept the skin under my arms in lovely condition, staying soft despite me shaving and no in-growing hairs.

Aurelia are so confident about this product that they are offering a full money back guarantee! Just try one of the natural cream deodorants for 7 days and if you don't think the product is for you, just send it back for a full refund - what you have got to lose?

Aurelia London Botanical Cream Deodorant and Citrus Botanical Cream Deodorant cost £18 for a 50g jar or £30 for 110g jar.
