BAIE BOTANIQUE ROSE RENEW CLEANSER & DUAL ACTION FACE CLOTH

A review of Baie Botanique Rose Renew Cleanser and their Dual Action Facial Cloth

The Happy Sage was kindly gifted these two products by Baie Botanique.

I have been reviewing a couple of products that were kindly sent to me by Baie Botanique, their Rose Renew Enzyme Cleanser and Dual Action Facial Cloth.

I started the review using only the Rose Renew Cleanser and then after two weeks added in the Dual Action face cloth. This is because I wanted to see whether there was any significant difference in using just the cleanser or the cleanser and the face cloth on my super sensitive skin.

Baie Botanique

Baie Botanique was started in 2014 by make-up artist Sophie Oliver who has over 30 years experience in the beauty industry. Like me, she feels that looking good comes from within and having skin confidence from a glowing and radiant skin is one of the most empowering things you can have.

Sophie felt that natural products full of plant based and botanical ingredients rich in nutrients could better care for the skin than the mainstream synthetic chemical brands. She therefore set about creating a range of innovative and botanical skin care products that would make a visible and long lasting difference to the skin.

Baie Botanique products contain no animal ingredients and are cruelty free and vegan. The company also strives to be as ethical and sustainable as possible.

Bai Botanique Rose Renew Cleanser

This product won ' Best Cleanser' in The Beauty Bible Awards 2020 and comes in a beautifully boxed 120ml pump.

First, a quick look at the main ingredients:

Rose Renew Cleanser Main Ingredients

It has a base of rose flower water and aloe vera which is lovely and mild and pomegranate enzymes to help gently exfoliate the skin and boost cell renewal, which slows down as you get older.

It contains two mushroom extracts, Reishi, which is deeply hydrating and helps relieve redness and fine lines and wrinkles and Shiitake which is great for brightening the skin.

On the oil and moisturising front it has rosehip oil which is a superior oil for skin care with moisturising, soothing and regenerating properties and jojoba oil which is as close to the natural sebum in the skin as you can get in an oil (technically, it's a liquid wax). A great combination of oils that will suit all skins and help soften and improve elasticity.

The cleanser also containS cupuacu seed butter and coconut oil. Although these can be quite heavy ingredients on the face the cleanser does not contain a large amount of them, there is just the right balance to give a beautiful deep cleanse and moisturise without any greasiness or pore clogging.

Essential oils of anti-ageing rose, rose geranium and skin balancing lemongrass provide a beautiful scent with powerful skin benefits.

How do you use Baie Botanique Rose Renew Cleanser?

The cleanser comes out of the pump more of a lotion than a cream and is easy to apply. Use a little on a cotton wool pad to remove eye make-up before cleansing, it is gentle and extremely effective for this. I usually use an organic make-up remover on my eyes but have been a little worried by the amount of alcohol in it which is drying, and am delighted that I have now found a great alternative. I have tried using other cleansers for eye make-up removal but without great success. The Rose Renew Cleanser doesn't give me any stinging or redness and it gently cleanses away the majority of my eye make-up. (Note: I use natural and organic make-up and have not tested the cleanser on any waterproof mascaras or eye shadows).

After removing your eye make-up pump a little into your hands and apply to the face and neck. The first thing you will notice is the scent, the glorious smell of rose geranium. Massage the lotion in to the skin all over your face and neck, including your eyes. Spend a minute gently massaging the product in and enjoying the aroma to let the ingredients have time to gently lift the make-up and dirt out of the skin.

Then rinse your face with warm water and pat the skin dry.

Beauty Tip
Don't forget to cleanse the jawline and the neck. These areas are often left out of a cleansing regime but can be covered in make-up, sunscreen or perfume, none of which you really want on your skin when you are sleeping

Baie Botanique Dual Action Facial Cloth

The Dual Action Facial Cloth has been designed to use with the Rose Renew Cleanser and is a good size approximately 10.5 inches square (27cm) so easy to handle. It is a good quality cloth, nice and thick and has a binding hem going round the outside which helps the cloth keep its shape when used and washed.

The cloth is made from 50% cotton and 50% bamboo. There are two sides to the cloth, the soft bamboo terry-like side is used to remove the cleanser and make-up and the cotton side is then used to gently exfoliate the skin. The cloth is reusable and easily washed and so eco-friendly.

How do you use the Baie Botanique Dual Action Facial Cloth?

Just wet the cloth and use the soft side to remove the cleanser and the cotton side afterwards to gently exfoliate the skin.

Don't wring or twist the cloth after you have used it or you may damage the bamboo fibres, just gently squeeze it and leave to dry naturally.

Baie Botanique Rose Renew Cleanser and Dual Action Facial Cloth - overall review

I initially used the cleanser for about 2 weeks, twice a day. I love the fact that it removes my eye make-up and then gently lifts away all the dirt and make-up from my face. After rinsing with warm water there does not feel to be any product or dirt left on my skin and surprisingly my skin does not feel dry or tight either, it feels quite soft, smooth and supple.

After two weeks of using the cleanser I added in the cleansing facial cloth to my regime. I think that exfoliating is one of the main things that you can do to improve your skin so I was really looking forward to using the cloth! Read about the benefits of facial exfoliation.

The soft side of the cloth certainly helped me to gently remove the make-up from around my eyes more easily. Once most of the product had been removed I used the cotton side of the cloth to gently exfoliate my skin. It was gentle and didn't cause any redness or irritation, leaving a perfect base for my night-time oil.

Beauty Tip
If you have sensitive skin, leave a tiny amount of watered down cleanser on your skin before using an exfoliating cloth so you don't drag the skin or irritate it with the rubbing.

I'm impressed with both of the products, in fact I have bought myself another facial cloth so that there is always one not in the wash! The cleanser worked well on my sensitive skin without any problems and no tightness and I'm very happy with the ingredients and the fact it doesn't contain any of the things I try to avoid in my skin care products. Read about which potentially toxic and harmful ingredients you should avoid in your skincare and make-up products.

Baie Botanique Rose Renew Cleanser costs £28 for a 120ml pump. The Dual Action Facial Cloth costs £6 or a pack of 3 costs £16. Baie Botanique do a full Rose Renew skincare range as well as bundle offers for great savings.
